By the early 20th century, the area attracted immigrants from around the world. To serve their tight-knit community with culturally relevant goods and services, these hard-working families began opening small businesses along the now famous 26th Street business corridor. To bring their strong cultural identity into this unique community, the section of South Lawndale was rebranded as Little Village.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<h4>Today, we proudly celebrate and preserve our cultural identity from the vibrant street art to the music and food festivals to the family-run businesses lining 26th Street.<\/h4>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>The community&#8217;s cultural events showcase the rich heritage of this predominantly Mexican American neighborhood:<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n\t\t<li>\t\t\n\t\t1.<h5>Mexican Independence Day Parade<\/h5><\/li><li>\t\t\n\t\t2.<h5>Mercado de Colores<\/h5><\/li><li>\t\t\n\t\t3.<h5>Hispanic Heritage Month<\/h5><\/li><li>\t\t\n\t\t4.<h5>Dia de los Muertos<\/h5><\/li><li>\t\t\n\t\t5.<h5>El Grito Family Run\/Walk 5K<\/h5><\/li>\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/flvchicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/lv-arch.jpg\" alt=\"lv arch\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"801\" width=\"1200\" title=\"lv arch\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1200\/801;\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t<p>As visitors enter the two-mile stretch of shopping on 26<sup>th<\/sup> Street, they pass under the famous arch that reads, &#8220;Bienvenidos a Little Village,&#8221; which represents more of a way of life than a greeting.
